A striking twinned calcite specimen from Iowa's Linwood Mine, displaying the characteristic sharp rhombohedral form for which this locality is renowned. These twinned crystals display a frosty surface with a waxy luster and a slight translucence that allows light to pass though the crystal when backlit. Near the marcasite at one end of the piece, there is a patch of glittery casts left behind by other crystals. The surface texture varies in some locations, with it more frosted on some faces than others. A few minor blemishes are present along edges of the crystal. An overall sharp and distinctive crystal with high aesthetic appeal from a classic US locality.
