A superb Herkimer diamond cluster with exceptional clarity and a subtle smoky-champagne hue, resulting from disseminated pyrobitumen (anthraxolite) inclusions. The main crystal is sharp, equant, and is accompanied by two smaller Herkimer diamonds aesthetically perched along one side. At 31 mm and over 17 grams, this specimen is outstanding for its size — with crisp, well-defined edges, glassy luster, and striking black inclusions that provide excellent contrast. Collected in 2024 by Willie Fannon and Heidi Grunenwald from the Herkimer Diamond Mine in Middleville, New York, this piece originated from a hydrocarbon-rich pocket located in the front section of the mine. The pocket, slightly smaller than a volleyball, produced numerous high-quality quartz crystals ranging from water-clear to champagne-smoky in color, with the largest exceeding 2 inches. This particular specimen is a fine example of the aesthetic and collector's quality that Herkimer County is known for. As with most Herkimer Diamond specimens of this size, it has been expertly reconstructed along two natural contacts with Loctite Light Cure Adhesive.
