A fine specimen of Herkimer diamonds, clustered in an abundant group atop a matrix coated in sparkling druzy quartz. The crystals show a bright vitreous luster and well-developed, broad faces. The original labels were lost over the years, as the piece comes from an old collection, so the exact mine cannot be confirmed. We suspect it originates from the Fonda area mines. Whatever its precise source, it is a gorgeous, well-balanced representation of the Herkimer diamond district of Upstate New York. Contact marks on several crystals show where they formed in contact with the pocket walls.
