Fluorite with quartz from the Thomaston Dam railroad cut in Connecticut. The cut was made in the mid-1900s, and collecting there is strictly prohibited, so material from this locality is scarce and aesthetic pieces are rarer still. This specimen is a standout. The fluorite crystals are well-formed with good color, and they cluster beautifully along fine white quartz crystals, where the contrast lets them take center stage. A well-composed piece from a locality that is closed to collectors, and one that is unlikely to be matched anytime soon.
