Two Herkimer Diamond crystals formed in a natural parallel growth cluster with excellent luster, double terminations, and intriguing hydrocarbon inclusions. Fully situated within the larger crystal are several black, semi-circle shaped inclusions of hydrocarbon. Hydrocarbon, also known as pyrobitumen or anthraxolite, forms from the polymerization of petroleum. It's presence in some Herkimer Diamonds is evidence of ancient organisms that existed over 300 million years ago.
