Hundreds of fine black sphalerite crystals partially engulf this superb galena crystal from Peru. Its octahedral form shows skeletal growth with an almost melted appearance, further accentuated by a dark gray metallic luster. Alongside the primary galena crystal sits a smaller one, well positioned for displaying the specimen's characteristics. The main crystal is partially intact, revealing a small amount of brilliant gold pyrite on the reverse. To round out this otherwise sulfide-dominated specimen, several clusters of small white quartz are scattered about. A great specimen bringing together several of the minerals this locality is known for.
