Distinct crystals of prismatic apophyllite with intense luster and excellent form. An excellent early 2000s specimen from the Deccan Traps in India. Apophyllite is renowned for its stunning, well-formed crystals that exhibit exceptional transparency and a brilliant luster. These crystals often appear in prismatic or tabular shapes and can range in color from colorless to shades of green, yellow, or pink. Apophyllite commonly occurs in association with zeolite minerals within volcanic rocks, particularly in basalt cavities and hydrothermal veins. The formation of apophyllite crystals is facilitated by the slow cooling of silica-rich fluids in these volcanic environments, allowing the crystals to grow to impressive sizes and clarity.
