This Herkimer diamond quartz specimen from the Crystal Grove Mine, New York, features a classic and aesthetically pleasing formation, with with a prominent Herkimer Diamond quartz crystal rising from a sparkling drusy quartz-coated matrix. The matrix is densely covered in fine, glittering quartz crystals that create a textured foundation and enhance the specimen’s overall brilliance. The main Herkimer diamond displays good clarity with localized warm yellow hues caused by iron oxide staining. At the termination, a visible contact scar marks the point where the crystal formed against the host rock. Crystal Grove Mine is known for its specimens of druzy quartz accented by Herkimer-style quartz, as seen in this specimen.
