Fluorite, a member of the cubic crystal system, most often occurs in cubic form with sharp edges, or in modified cubic or modified octahedral habits. Less common among the isometric forms for fluorite are plain octahedrons with sharply defined edges. This specimen from Zhejiang, China, features crisp octahedral fluorite crystals with a lovely purple coloration. The surfaces display an attractive sheen, with beautiful translucence and glow when backlit.
