An excellent marcasite & calcite specimen displaying multiple calcite growth phases, complemented by lustrous metallic marcasite. Tiny scalenohedral calcites are present in some areas of the specimen, and are then overgrown by larger prismatic calcite rhombs with phenomenal luster. Between the distinct gem calcite crystals are intricate growths of marcasite. Sourced from the classic Midwest locality: Linwood Mine, Scott County, Iowa. This specimen showcases the striking contrast between the calcite’s bright vitreous luster and the marcasite’s brassy sheen and would make an excellent addition to any collection.
