Quartz Var. Herkimer Diamond

Perched along a ridge of dolostone, a tight cluster of bright, double-terminated quartz crystals, classic New York Herkimer Diamonds, rises in dramatic relief. Subtle honey-orange staining at the pocket rim provides warm contrast to the glassy terminations. Collected from the Ace of Diamonds Mine, Middleville, Herkimer Co., New York, this piece represents a once-prolific but now closed locality (shut to collecting in 2023). Specimens showing multiple, well-exposed Herkimers on their original matrix have become notably scarce, making this an appealing addition for any quartz or New York specialist
