Calcite

A fine calcite specimen from Daye Co., Huangshi, Hubei, China, exhibiting two distinct phases of growth. An inner scalenohedral calcite is fully encased within a later generation of calcite, creating a striking visual effect with excellent internal contrast. The sharp crystal form and layered appearance make this an especially appealing example from this locality.
