Exceptional specimen of New York's iconic quartz var. "Herkimer Diamond." An exemplary piece due to the level of clarity for its size, as well as attractive arrangement of crystals and subtle champagne hue. Can be displayed in several different ways, either situated upright for display in a mineral cabinet or laying flat. Contact imprints can be seen along one side of the specimen, showing where this impressive cluster grew in contact with the host rock, the Little Falls Dolostone. There are some inconsequential flaws along edges or surfaces, all of which can be seen in photos and video. with Herkimer Diamond of this size. The largest crystal measures 7.8 centimeters from point to point, see full dimensions below. This is a reconstructed Herkimer Diamond cluster, meaning that it has had the two main crystals reattached along the natural contact with Jeweler's Epoxy 330. Contacts between crystals are natural planes of weakness, which makes clusters prone to separation while still in the earth. As with most large Herkimer Diamond clusters, these two crystals were found together and reconnected using Epoxy 330.

Herkimer Diamonds are naturally occurring quartz crystals, formed over 300 million years ago through the Earth's natural processes. These beautiful crystals earned the name "Herkimer Diamonds" due to their striking resemblance to cut diamonds and their location in Herkimer County, New York. Unlike traditional diamonds, Herkimer Diamonds form naturally with exceptional clarity and flat faces, making them a true marvel of nature.
